𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: DoS LAUNCH The Department of State has officially opened its doors in Liberty.
STATE OF LIBERTY — A chaotic pursuit involving the Liberty State Patrol (LSP) and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) ended dramatically this afternoon when a Department of Public Safety interceptor vaulted onto the hood of a suspect’s vehicle during a tactical maneuver.
The incident involved a white sedan and spanned several districts, shifting from a slow-speed procession to a dangerous high-speed chase before terminating in a collision on Lakeview Court.
From Tunnel to Traffic Stop
The situation began earlier today near the River City Tunnel, where officers from the Motor Carrier Compliance Division and Liberty State Patrol initially attempted to stop the white vehicle. For several minutes, the pursuit continued at unusually slow speeds, with the suspect refusing to pull over but maintaining a pace that confused onlookers.
However, the situation escalated rapidly as the driver accelerated, leading Liberty State DPS units on a high-speed chase through the city streets.
The Turning Point
The pursuit reached a boiling point at the intersection of Maple Street and Spring Creek Road, near the 900 block. According to reports from the scene, the suspect vehicle abruptly rear-ended a Department of Public Safety vehicle.
One officer involved in the collision recounted the moments immediately following the impact:
"I turned on my emergency lights and sirens and waited until all LEO personnel passed and followed quickly behind."
The Final Crash
The chase turned onto Lakeview Court from Maple Street, a residential cul-de-sac where the suspect ran out of room.
The Department of Public Safety states the suspect attempted a desperate maneuver, causing the white sedan to crash backwards into a tree (code 10-50). Attempting to secure the scene and prevent the suspect from fleeing again, the involved officer moved to pin the suspect's vehicle.
In a stunning turn of events, as the officer rammed the front of the suspect's car to block them in, the patrol vehicle’s momentum caused it to "ramp" up the front of the white sedan, coming to a rest directly on top of the suspect's hood.
Aftermath
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to Lakeview Court. While the state patrol unit was left perched atop the white sedan, initial reports suggest the suspect was successfully detained. No life-threatening injuries have been reported at this time, though traffic remains diverted around Maple Street while the LSP accident investigation team clears the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver or the specific charges they will face.
